From CNC Machinery and Welding Equipment to Forklifts and Hand Tools, most workplaces will have some level of responsibility under PUWER.

PUWER stands for:

Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998

These regulations were introduced to improve workplace safety by ensuring that equipment used at work is:

• Suitable for its intended use
• Properly maintained
• Safe to operate
• Used by trained and competent people

Employers have a duty to make sure work equipment does not create unnecessary risks to health and safety.
